How to Handle your Venue Contract

Venue-ContractsAs you plan your special day, you will find yourself making numerous agreements and signing several contracts. One of the most important contracts a couple will find themselves signing is the one for their venue. Before the contract is signed, there are no guarantees. To ensure you have the day of your dreams, be sure to navigate your venue contract with these tips.

One of the things to keep in mind as you look over your venue contract is everything needs to be in writing. If a detail isn’t in writing, it doesn’t count should a problem occur. While your venue may be nice during meetings, nothing is ever concrete until it is agreed to in a written contract.

If you are planning on having an outdoor wedding, consider having a plan B included in your contract. This means if a storm happens to pop up on your big day, the hall inside will be held for you as a backup plan. Backup plans within your contract should also include extra chairs and tables in case extra guests make an appearance.

So what should your venue contract include?

  • The time and date of your wedding
  • The time and date of your rehearsal
  • Signatures of all parties involved
  • Details surrounding your reception
  • Substitutions and contingency plans
  • Deposit amount and final amount

Your venue contract should also include a refund and cancellation plan in case an issue occurs. Once the details of the contract have been agreed on, sign your contract and be ready for your special day!
