Planning the perfect catered surprise party

Grandma is turning 80, and this birthday needs to be extra special. The entire family has decided on a surprise party to celebrate and now it’s time to put this thing together. Catering by Alan Weiss is here to make sure that Grandma has a day to remember, and would like to offer a few tips to help you plan.

Decide on the Size

Is this going to be an intimate gathering or a large party? Does she have one grandchild or a whole litter? Is it going to be family or are you going to include Grandma’s friends as well? The first thing you want to do is get a count of how many people will be in attendance. This will affect the rest of the planning.

Book a Venue

Does Grandma love to sit on benches under a tree or does she enjoy spending time indoors? Figure out what temperature and climate make her happy and choose the venue accordingly. Alan Weiss caters to both indoor and outdoor events! If you’re choosing to hold her party outdoors, account for the weather. It might be a good idea to rent a tent or covering in case of rain. We can’t have Grandma getting her hair ruined on her special day.

Have Good Food

A fed Grandma is a happy Grandma. Catering by Alan Weiss is the very best in kosher catering cuisine. With our professional staff, elegant presentation, and tasty fare, Grandma is sure to be impressed and happy!

Plan Activities

If Grandma and co. are down to boogie, make sure you’ve booked a venue with a dance floor. A DJ or band will be a great addition to a lively affair. If dancing isn’t so much Grandma’s thing, look into hiring an entertainment act – such as a magician.

Don’t let her Find Out!

The surprise will be the hardest part to maintain, as you’ll probably want to spoil the news from excitement. When you send out invitations, include a fun remark that informs the guest of the nature of the party. This way they’ll know to keep it to themselves.

Make Sure She’s Free

Grandma may be 80, but she still has a social life. Prior to planning an elaborate event, make sure she’s free that night. Make a date with her to see a movie or a show – and then see the look on her face when she arrives at an event thrown just for her!
